As the daughter of a Croatian immigrant, Jennifer Djurkovic grew up in New York City with a unique perspective of real estate. Her father and his brothers immigrated from Croatia in 1968 when NYC was bankrupt and possessed a multitude of distressed properties. Upon their arrival, her father worked as an elevator operator while his brothers worked as superintendents. Fortunately, the brothers eventually met a landlord who recognized their potential, and he helped them to combine their money in order to purchase some used buildings in undesirable areas. Eventually, their investment paid off, and they were on their way to success. Knowing what real estate did for her family inspired Jennifer to go into commercial real estate herself because she came to regard it as much more than a business; she saw it is part of the American dream.
With over 12 years of experience, Jennifer is the founder and licensed real estate broker of Djurkovic Investments Properties in New York. She explains, “I spearhead a team of three top-notch analysts and a marketing coordinator that is responsible for branding and making informative marketing materials that stand out in the commercial real estate industry.” Since the company’s inception in April 2019, it already has over $94 million worth of commercial assets under contract as well as $75 million in listed properties. Jennifer excitedly notes that this is only the beginning because the company is still rapidly growing.
Prior to launching Djurkovic Investments Properties, Jennifer worked as a director in the investment sales division for Ariel Property Advisors, a commercial Real Estate Firm in New York City. She joined the company in the fall of 2017 and was responsible for leading business development and for networking initiatives in Manhattan’s downtown east neighborhoods, with a particular focus on NoHo (North of Houston Street in Manhattan), East Village, and Greenwich Village.
Before joining Ariel Property Advisors, Jennifer served as an associate director and as a commercial broker at Eastern Consolidated in New York City. She joined the company in 2015, and it was her responsibility to broker deals for multifamily buildings in the Manhattan and midtown areas. During her two years at the company, Jennifer originated and executed the transactions of properties valued at over $56.3 million.
Jennifer started her career in real estate at Massey Knakal Realty Services, now Cushman & Wakefield, where she focused on investment sales in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards, Midtown West, Penn Station neighborhoods, and other areas in New York City and New Jersey. She worked alongside a chairman and team that sold 142 properties worth $2.2 billion in aggregate consideration. She also personally worked on major deals such as 21 Penn Plaza, which sold for $244 million in 2014 to the financial services giant TIAA-CREF.
Earlier in her career, Jennifer was an account coordinator at The Real Deal Magazine where she worked as an advertising expert, focusing on marketing, business development, advertising, and events. One of her highlighted events included “The Future of Hudson Yards: The New City Within the City,” which was featured on Bravo Network’s reality show Million Dollar Listing. She was also interviewed by New York Real Estate Journal to discuss the success of The Real Deal Magazine at The Real Estate Expo at Columbia University in 2012.
Jennifer has also earned many other awards and designations. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration in marketing from CUNY Brooklyn College in 2012 and received a Dale Carnegie Certificate of Sales Success in 2013. Jennifer was also named one of the Top Women to Watch in Real Estate in 2018 and was one of the featured Commercial Real Estate Women in the April 2018 Issue of the New York News.
